Audience:
Transit professionals whose responsibilities include some or all of the following related to fare collection: setting policy, establishing strategic direction, procuring systems, and managing and operating fare collection systems and activities. This is an introductory level course. The content is geared to people with little or no experience in implementing contactless fare collection systems.
Description:
This course is designed to help transit professionals recognize and plan for the complexities associated with implementing a new fare collection system for an individual agency or on a regional basis.
Topics include:
- The relationship among fare policy, structure, and technology
- Components of a contactless fare collection system and applicable standards
- Fare processing and contactless models
- Fare payment technology implications and considerations
- Managing a contactless fare collection project using Systems Engineering
- Keys to successful project implementation
- Industry experiences with implementing contactless fare collection systems
The course is facilitated by industry professionals with extensive experience in implementing fare collection systems.
Fee:
Tuition shall be waived for federal, state and local government employees who work in transportation or related areas.
